Re: Pixsy demanding I pay a fee for unauthorised use of an image. Urgently need help.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has updates on their Pixsy shenanigans. My business received an email from them recently with pretty much the same stuff that's been talked about here - a free Flickr photo under CC2.0 and they're demanding WAY more than you've all mentioned - over £1,000. Has anyon...

Re: fairlicensing@pamediagroup.com - infringement

Nothing fair about it. It's hypocritical of them to use the word "amicably" just after a legal action threat. I get the same crap from Pixsy like "let's reach an amicable solution." I can't see how they think that figure is justified if the image was available on Alamy at a much ...

Re: Pixsy demanding I pay a fee for unauthorised use of an image. Urgently need help.

Hi Les. If they'd accepted my offer, best I could offer, I'd have paid up probably. For that reason: off my back. 1/10 of the fee demanded is far less than what they refused to accept for me. I don't think you're a mug if you pay. I've been bothered by their threats and garbage since August. It's be...

Re: Pixsy demanding I pay a fee for unauthorised use of an image. Urgently need help.

Been several weeks since I got the latest round of threatening language from Pixsy. Today I got: Legal Escalation Notice: Followed by the case number and artist's name. So many escalation notices. Seems that escalation notices have been escalated...over and over. Joke. The emails always look virtual...

Re: Copyright infringement via Permission Machine, acting on behalf of Alamy

I actually wish I hadn't allowed them to make me feel I needed to invest so much time in researching the case and their actions this past 6 months. But, if anything, it's been an education and I am looking towards having my case covered by a journalist once I know they have pretty much ceased contac...

Re: Copyright infringement via Permission Machine, acting on behalf of Alamy

Very likely, Tomato. I've had threats, warnings, chases, discount offer (joke...), 2nd warning, final warnings, more follow ups, last chance, offer refused, followups, escalation warnings.... since August 2023. It's been several weeks since I cut off comms with Pixsy after they refused my offer. I h...

Re: Wikimedia/Creative Commons and copyleft trolling

That photographer is talking a load of s***.... He's either as Andy said confusing attributing free CC2.0 images with unpaid commercial licenses, or actually wants to defend firms like Pixsy. He's just another disgruntled photographer who does not want to accept the CC4 license upgrade and so to car...

Re: Wikimedia/Creative Commons and copyleft trolling

That's all very well but the photographer has to sign docs for each case and could have refused on all but the big companies stealing his "licensed" work. Sorry, but I have no respect for these people who use PIxsy or similar firms and don't check who is being harrassed. That's what trolls...

Re: Wikimedia/Creative Commons and copyleft trolling

Yep. And the photographer who chose not to contact me and allow Pixsy to get him his money, has found his Flickr account banned. 27k images or more. Flickr and CC condemn Pixsy, and Flickr ended their partnership yet Pixsy still say they are a Flickr partner. Professional, not. Flickr were very good...

That's useful info, Les.
Are those figures the same in terms of claims through the IPEC?

Re: Pixsy demanding I pay a fee for unauthorised use of an image. Urgently need help.

Latest on this. Seems the emails sent to me are all pretty much the same with just a few wording changes made here and there and in the subject lines. If it goes to a "partner attorney" as they say, then I expect to hear directly from them and so I'm blocking Pixsy emails as I no longer w...

Re: Copyright Agent demanding £600

My case is a bit different, over a free Flickr CC 2.0 license but relevant here. A letter of claim would also have to show how the amount is calculated. In my case, can't see that looking justified before a judge. Not the so-called "license fee" that Pixsy ask for. And considering they've ...

Re: Pixsy demanding I pay a fee for unauthorised use of an image. Urgently need help.

It's interesting that Pixsy still list Flickr as a "partner" which they most certainly are not. Flickr have publicly condemned the actions of their service and in 2019, ended the partnership, not to mention banning artists who use their site to make money out of transgressions. Makes you w...

Re: ImageRights.com Attack - UK small business

Sorry to hear this is happening to you. There are a number of victims of this kind of harassment on this site telling the same old tales, of which I am one. I'm currently dealing with the end game of a case over a Flickr image under the outdated CC 2.0 license and the lack of attribution which I was...

Re: Copyright Infringement on a non-commercial website

I have read about people just paying up as in one fella's case in this thread. Sadly he caved in as the emails got too much and paid £650. https://legalbeagles.info/forums/forum/legalbeagles-consumer-forums/welcome-forum/1670685-urgent-pixsy-email-demanding-fee-for-so-called-unlicensed-use-of-images...
