Thanks for your help.

The CD simply has a single PDF image with scanned images of all the pages within the file. There is no added functionality of any sort.

Old Trade Directories

If I purchase a CD on which there is a scanned copy of a 19th century trade directory, are the seller's claims of copyright valid or nonsense ?

In other words, am I free to sell my own copies given that I'm fairly certain the old book is well out of copyright ?

You wouldn't need to. The copyright on a photograph taken in 1920 would have lapsed at the end of 1970, as per the...

From this it can be seen that provided the author died before 1 Jan 1945 the photographs he/she produced would be in the public domain by the time the change to +70 year...

Are Historical Images Websites Now Illegal ?

I have, for nearly 10 years, built and grown an image archive website that holds over 2000 images of my local area. The images are mostly from old postcards and most of them from the 1900-193...

Copyright on old Edwardian photographs/postcards

I have been working with local schools for a few years now to build an online library of old images of our city to bring history to life for school kids. The site has no commercial element, it is purely educational and contains optimized web-images that would not print with any quality. The images o...
