Hi Andy,

I understand your explanations. This is indeed a complicated world, it seems dangerous for me to handle this problem. I made up my mind to consult a lawyer. Thanks for those help, they are very useful. Have a wonderful time in the coming Christmas. :)

Hi Andy, Many thanks to the easily understood and detailed reply. Very helpful! I have some more questions, could you continue helping me? It makes sense to me that the tune and words will be owned by different authors, but I cannot understand how would it work for me to have the authorship to the t...

Music Copyright

Hello! I have a question regarding the ownership of musical products. Hope you could give me some help. I have(own) some lyrics and am negotiating with someone to make rhythm for them. "work made for hire" and German Copyright Law

Hello,

As far as I'm concerned, there's no total buy-out case in german copyright law as the case of "work made for hire" in the US copyright law. If I hire germans to make products for me, how can I have the authorship of the product? Will a contract build unders US law achieve this goal?

This song will be widely used for non-profit activities. I don't have the budget to pay every time and asking permissi...

Creative Commons Picture Use

Hi all, I understand that creative commons pictures can be used without payment as long as the requirements are met. But some photos licensed under CC are also sold in stock houses. I'm confused about their legal status, like this particular photo: https://www.flickr.com/photos/unitednationsdevelopm...

Modifying typefaces of open source fonts

If I modify the typefaces of fonts licensed under SIL, GNU, Apache and MIT license, do I have to release my modified font under the same license? If I keep it for my own use and do not distribute it, can I claim copyright for it?

Hi Andy, Now I see I misunderstand the requirement of criticism and review. Thanks for the clarification. I'll consider very cautiously before using these materials. But I still have a question. Can ordinary photos uploaded by individuals(not photographers or other professionals), which do not have ...

GPL License

Do I have to open the source code derived from the code licensed under GPL v2? I want to modify a website theme licensed under GPL to create my own web page to let people view. There will be no distribution or money making. Do I have to open the modified code under the same GPL license?
