Please can anyone advice whether you are able to use slang phrases which include a brand name, for commercial purposes?

For example, the phrase 'Netflix and Chill' is a popular slang phrase derived from colloquial use on the internet and meaning a euphemism for something else. Would I be able to put this phrase on products (mugs, t-shirts) and sell it?
Thanks

Hi cassandrab,
There is no copyright issue with doing what you suggest, but by using a brand name (or a registered trade mark) in this way you need to be careful not to suggest that the company behind the brand has endorsed or authorised your product. I don't think most people viewing a tee shirt slogan would tend to assume such a thing, but given the way some more culturally-aware companies use viral advertising, it can't be ruled out. The more jokey or derogatory your slogan, the less it is likely to be seen as trade mark infringement.
