Make a fair an reasonable offer based on the actual market value (£24). Double it as a goodwill gesture for their inconvenience as a final offer. Then don't budge from that position. That's what I did and eventually they left it at 'we reserve the right to contact you again at any time". Plenty of threads to review on here that are relevant but ultimately they will all say a very similar outcome.

But if they're not replying to you then don't chase them!

Hello Deadman121

I note that it is quite some time since you last posted about this. Did anything happen after your last post, or did Alamy give up? Did you make a payment to them?

Ive found myself in a similar position to you, have just had a first email from them. I accept Ive made a mistake and I would be willing to pay £50 to correct my wrong, but I cant afford £440.

For clarity: I manage a not-for-profit website/blog, used an image that I thought was free but turns out now it was licence-able, the image in question has been viewed approx 100 times in 5 years and has now been deleted (not to avoid having to pay but out of respect for copyright owner)
