I would like to create a photo mosaic, which I will create using 100 images which I OWN. The collection of 100 images will be arranged using computer software, into a mosaic giving the collective appearance of an image I DO NOT own.
If I'm not clear in describing what I mean, you can see an image by looking at the below link:
weblogsincDOTcom/common/images/8154152284084716.JPG.9640476668288915
My final image will look like a celebrity
Would i be breaking any copyright law?
I plan to use the mosaic on my Facebook business page, asking users to guess the name of the celebrity. My aim is to get users to return to my page on Facebook to look at a fresh image each week.
Photo montages are they covered by copyright?

Hi wright67
I think you will OK with what you propose to do, because you are not using any part of the other image to create you mosaic. Effectively all that you are copying will be the idea of the other image, and ideas alone are not protected by copyright. Clearly when anyone zooms in on the mosaic, they will be able to see that the component parts are not the pixels of the other image, but your own chosen images.
