im thinking of making pictures for friends and selling them to them and wanted to know if aloud to use ie mickey just them and different colours in the back ground would this be aloud

Hi natty,
No you shouldn't use other people's cartoon figures in that way because it would be infringing their copyright. And especially not with Disney cartoons as they are particularly protective of their intellectual property.

If you think about it, was your idea based on the fact that your friends and potential customers would be attracted to your work because they recognised the underlying character, of say Mickey? If so then you can see why that would be trading on the existing goodwill of the creator of those characters, rather than your limited input.

Far better to create your own characters and then you can be confident that your creation will have originality. And who knows, perhaps one day your characters will be famous enough that others will want to copy them. Then you'll know you've made it!

thanks but not that good, just want to copy and paste them onto a background, cut them out and paly around with them
