Pokemon Forum Website idea

Would it be against copyright laws to create a forum where users can discuss recent news topics, games, anime and anything other really. I realize that Nintendo have been strict on copyright laws previously but I am not sure if this is allowed or not.

Thank you for a really easy one for a lazy Sunday morning. There is no problem from either a copyright or trade mark perspective, with setting up a forum like this. As with any forum, it is wise to have a general rule that posters should only post material to which they own the copyright, but that is not strictly necessary from a legal point of view. The use of words like Nintendo or the names of games is perfectly all right in a context where it is obvious they are being used descriptively, even if the words themselves will usually be registered trade marks.

Hi, thanks for the reply. If I were to create a gaming forum, for any game could I? Or do these rules only apply to Pokémon itself?

The same would apply to a forum on any subject or game.
