Freedom of panorama about nonbuilding structures

Post by Anna »

Do nonbuilding structures, e.g. street signs, bridges, railway, walkways, etc. enjoy copyright protection? I know they do not have copyright in the US. What about other countries? Can I shoot them freely?

I would not give it a second thought! Even if they were, it would make most photogrphs illegal and would be unenforceable. I am sure the law has better things to do than prosecute practically everyone who has a camera!

Hi Anna,
No you don't need to worry about mundane or utilitarian objects such as street signs etc.
Advice or comment provided here is not and does not purport to be legal advice as defined by s.12 of Legal Services Act 2007
