Claims from the Picture Agency StockFood

Post by AndyJ » Sun Feb 05, 2017 11:34 pm

We now have several threads on the forums from people who have received letters from Stockfood claiming that the recipient has infringed the copyright of an image which the agency handles on behalf of a photographer.

While we always appreciate the fullest amount of details when someone poses a question here, please be aware that it is highly likely that Stockfood monitors this site (it is the first site to come up on a Google search for "Stockfood claims"). Therefore we would advise you not to make admissions about any alleged infringement, nor to reveal your detailed tactics in handling such claims, when posting. Doing so will only assist Stockfood in countering your response to them.

We will continue to provide generic advice about the law and support to anyone who is unsure about how to handle such claims, but we cannot provide specific legal advice on which you conduct litigation. That would be contrary to the Legal Services Act 2007. If you cannot afford to engage your own solicitor, we suggest you contact Citizens Advice, via this page on their website. And most definitely do not be tempted to do nothing and hope the problem will go away. That could lead to a default judgment against you.
Advice or comment provided here is not and does not purport to be legal advice as defined by s.12 of Legal Services Act 2007
